Description

JCID Face ID Chip For X to12 Pro Max

JCID offers Face ID repair parts and tools for the iPhone X up to the 12 Pro Max, allowing technicians to fix the TrueDepth camera system
. Since the Face ID components are paired to the iPhone’s logic board, a special programmer is required to transfer data to the replacement part.

Necessary JCID tools

To repair Face ID on models from the X through the 12 Pro Max, a technician typically needs:
  • JCID Programmer: A tool like the V1SE or V1S Pro is used to read the encryption data from the original, malfunctioning dot projector and write it onto the new replacement part.
  • Face ID Activation Board: This is an adapter for the programmer that is specifically designed to read and write the Face ID data. Newer versions do not require an external power supply.
  • Replacement Flex Cable: JCID offers “tag-on” or “non-removal” flex cables that do not require micro-soldering the original dot projector chip. The data is transferred from the old flex cable to the new one using the programmer. There are specific cables for different iPhone models, including the 12 Pro Max.

Face ID repair process using JCID tools

  1. Read the old data: Using the V1SE or V1S Pro programmer and the Face ID activation board, the technician reads the encrypted data from the iPhone’s original dot projector flex cable.
  2. Write to the new flex cable: The original data is then written to the new JCID replacement flex cable.
  3. Activate the assembly: The original Face ID module is activated by the programmer.
  4. Install the new cable: The new JCID “tag-on” flex cable, now with the correct encrypted data, is connected to the iPhone’s Face ID assembly.
  5. Test Face ID: The device is reassembled, and the technician tests Face ID functionality. If successful, Face ID will work as expected.

Important considerations

  • Soldering vs. non-soldering: JCID offers both standard and “non-removal” (or “tag-on”) Face ID flex cables. The non-removal option is easier and does not require microsoldering, making it more accessible for many repair shops.
  • Model-specific cables: It is crucial to use the correct JCID flex cable for the specific iPhone model (e.g., a cable for the iPhone X cannot be used for the 12 Pro Max).
  • Expert repair: While JCID tools simplify the process, Face ID repair is a complex, delicate procedure involving microsoldering and the TrueDepth camera. Attempting this repair requires expertise to avoid causing further damage.
