For professional repair technicians, JCID offers the Romeo2 integrated Face ID chip as a solution for repairing Face ID problems on the iPhone 15 series. The original Face ID chip is paired to the phone’s logic board, so special tools are needed to transfer data to the replacement part.
JCID Face ID repair process for iPhone 15
- Read and write data: You need a JCID programmer, such as the V1SE or V1S Pro, and the appropriate adapter for the 15 series. This is used to read and back up the unique encrypted data from the original Face ID module.
- Replace the original chip: The damaged Face ID chip is desoldered and removed from the dot projector board.
- Solder the new Romeo2 chip: The new JCID Romeo2 integrated chip is soldered onto the dot projector board. This second-generation chip is designed to simplify the process and often comes with pre-installed solder balls for direct installation.
- Write and activate: The backed-up data from the original module is then written onto the new Romeo2 chip using the JCID programmer.
- Reassemble and test: The new Face ID module is reassembled into the phone and tested to ensure Face ID functionality is restored.
