Repair process

To perform the repair, a technician must:

1. Use a JCID programmer: The repair requires a special tool like the JCID V1S or V1SE programmer.
2. Read data: The programmer is used to read and back up the unique data from the original, broken dot projector.
3. Transfer data: This original data is then written to the new JCID replacement flex cable.
4. Install the flex: The new flex cable is installed in the phone. In some cases, JCID offers “non-removal” or “tag-on” flex cables that do not require transferring the chip itself, simplifying the process.
5. Activate: The programmer is used again to activate the new flex cable, restoring the Face ID function.

• Solder-free solutions: The JCID flex cables are known for enabling repairs without complex micro-soldering, making the process less invasive and quicker.
• Non-removal option: Some JCID flex cables are designed to be “tag-on,” meaning they can be attached without removing and reballing the original chip, which significantly lowers the skill level required.
• Requires specialized equipment: The flex cable is useless without the corresponding JCID programmer, which handles the data writing and activation process.
• Professional installation: Due to the delicate nature of the components and the special equipment required, this is not a repair for a novice. It should be performed by a skilled repair technician.
