How it works
The JCID flex cable is not a battery booster in the traditional sense, but a programmer that manipulates the data chip on the original battery. This is a common procedure in professional phone repair, and it typically requires a compatible JCID programming device, such as the V1SE or V1S Pro.
The process generally involves these steps:
- Read data: The original battery’s chip data is read and saved using the programmer.
- Attach the flex: A JCID repair flex cable is connected to the new replacement battery.
- Write data: The original battery’s chip data is then written to the new flex cable using the programmer.
- Install: The new battery with the attached flex cable is installed in the iPhone.
- Clear error message: After a reboot, the “Unknown Part” message is removed, and the battery health percentage is restored.
Types of JCID battery flex cables
JCID offers two main types of battery repair flex cables:
- Tag-On (External): This is an easier-to-use version that attaches to the outside of the battery. It is visible during the repair but requires no soldering.
