How it works

• Face ID uses a TrueDepth camera system that includes an infrared dot projector to map the unique geometry of a user’s face.
• If the original dot projector is damaged—which can happen during other repairs or from a hard drop—Face ID will fail.
• The JCID flex cable is a new, blank cable onto which the encrypted data from the original, broken flex is written using a programmer tool, such as a JCID V1S or V1SE.
• This process preserves the device’s original security data, allowing Face ID to function again with the new part.

• Not a standalone fix: This is a repair component, not a simple plug-and-play part. The repair process is complex and generally not suitable for novice users.
