Display technology and features

• Super Retina XDR OLED: An advanced OLED display that provides exceptional color accuracy and contrast ratio. Each pixel can emit its own light, resulting in true blacks and incredible contrast.
• HDR support: The panel supports High Dynamic Range (HDR), including Dolby Vision, HDR10, and HLG, to produce a wide range of dark and light areas in photos and videos.
• Peak brightness: The display offers 625 nits of maximum typical brightness, with a peak brightness of 1,200 nits for HDR content.
• High contrast ratio: It features a typical contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1.
• True Tone and Wide Color (P3): The display dynamically adjusts its color temperature to match the ambient light in your environment with True Tone. It also features a wide P3 color gamut for more vivid and accurate colors.
• Haptic Touch: Instead of 3D Touch, the iPhone 12 uses Haptic Touch, which provides haptic feedback when you press and hold on the screen. 

Durability and resolution

• Ceramic Shield: Co-developed with Corning, this glass-ceramic material protects the front screen. Apple stated it offered “4 times better drop performance” than the glass on the iPhone 11.
• Resolution and pixel density: The 6.1-inch panel has a resolution of 2532 x 1170 pixels, which translates to a pixel density of approximately 460 pixels per inch (ppi).
• Oleo-phobic coating: An anti-fingerprint coating helps reduce smudges and fingerprints on the screen. 

Design and construction

• Flat edge design: The display is flush with the flat-edged aluminum frame, which contributes to the phone’s overall durability.
• Manufacturers: The OLED panels for the iPhone 12 were supplied by LG Display and Samsung Display.
